Magdalena Korwin, MD

Dr Korwin graduated from the Medical Academy in Warsaw, 1st Medical Faculty, in 1999, and in 2007 she completed specialization in ophthalmology. Since 2001 she has been working as a senior assistant in the Chair and Department of Ophthalmology at the 2nd Medical Faculty of the Medical University of Warsaw and the Independent Public Clinical Ophthalmology Hospital.

Dr Korwin has been a member of the Polish Society of Ophthalmology (PTO) and of the PTO Contact Lens Section since 2001, and since 2003 she has been a member of the PTO Management Board. She has been a member of the European Contact Lens Society of Ophthalmologists since 2001, and an honorary member of the Retinitis Pigmentosa Society since 2000. Dr Korwin is a lecturer for the European Board of Ophthalmologists (EBO), specializing in training courses on contact lenses. She has done academic internships at the University of Chicago, Salzburg and Prague, among others.

Dr Korwin teaches students at the Medical University of Warsaw, translates professional literature, does research on Leber Hereditary Visual Neuropathy (LHON), and on issues relating to soft and hard contact lenses, especially therapeutic contact lenses, and plastic and reconstructive surgery of the eyelids, anterior segment of the eye and orbit. He is the author and co-author of numerous scientific papers published in Polish and foreign journals and presented at national and international congresses. Honoured twice with the award for best research project in the ‘Dry Eye’ contest.

Dr Korwin performs cataract surgeries, glaucoma surgeries and surgeries in anterior segment of the eye, as well as plastic and reconstructive eyelid surgeries and orbital surgeries. She also treats dry eye disease, especially in patients after bone marrow transplant. She conducts courses and training sessions on soft contact lenses, in particular therapeutic lenses, dry eye disease, pharmacology and pharmacotherapy of glaucoma.

She participates in conducting clinical drug trials, and conducts research in genetics on LHON and Stargardt disease funded by grants from the National Centre for Research and Development (earlier: State Committee for Scientific Research) .

In addition to her expert knowledge in ophthalmology, Dr Magdalena Korwin also specializes in aesthetic medicine. She holds the title of International Trainer in the administration of fillers, and revitalization and reconstruction of the area of the eye and orbit, and gives papers as a guest speaker at many important national and international medical conferences on aesthetic medicine.

She has an excellent command of the English language.
