Joanna Przybek-Skrzypecka, MD, PhD

Eye Specialist

Dr Joanna Przybek-Skrzypecka in 2012 graduated with honours from the Medical University of Warsaw (MUW), and passed the Medical Final Examination with the second highest score, receiving an award from the Regional Medical Chamber in Warsaw.

Since 2013 dr Przybek-Skrzypecka has been working at the Independent Public Clinical Ophthalmology Hospital in Warsaw, and since 2019 she has been an Assistent Professor at the Chair and Department of Ophthalmology of the Faculty of Medicine of the MUW. She is also a Consultant Ophthalmologist at the Institute of Psychiatry and Neurology in Warsaw.

In 2018, after completing her doctoral studies pursued at the Department of Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology of the MUW, dr Przybek-Skrzypecka defended her dissertation on multiple sclerosis.

Her professional interests focus on neuro-ophthalmology, infectious eye diseases, pharmacotherapy and ophthalmic surgeries, and she enjoys solving ‘difficult ophthalmic cases’.

Dr Przybek-Skrzypecka is the President of Club 40 of the Polish Society of Ophthalmology – an organisation for young Polish ophthalmologists who are actively involved in scientific research.

During specialization dr Przybek-Skrzypecka participated in 3 clinical trials and numerous scientific, professional and didactic internships and courses at prominent foreign centres, including Columbia University in New York, USA, where she conducted research under a Kosciuszko Foundation grant, and Manchester Royal Eye Hospital in the UK.

She is constantly expanding her knowledge and skills, as she believes that a daily dose of knowledge develops a doctor.

Dr Przybek-Skrzypecka is passionate about didactics. In 2021 she did “Masters of didactics” course at University College in London.

Since 2010 she has been successfully teaching ophthalmology and pharmacology to the WUM students at the First and Second Faculty of Medicine, and at the English Division of the WUM. 

In 2014 she was voted second best didactician by students of the First Faculty of Medicine at the WUM. She provides patients with accurate explanations of their illnesses and suggested treatments. Patients and students can ask any question and none will go unanswered.

In her spare time she cooks and reads books.
